Cherokee Bluff High School

Brooke is a senior who has completed the Cosmetology Pathway and interns at Karma Salon in Buford. She has already logged almost 800 hours since August at the salon. Brooke’s career goal is to obtain her cosmetology license and open her own salon one day.

Brooke’s mentor says “She is wonderful, we love having her, and she does a great job in the salon as well as at the front desk.”

Alicia Simmons

Alicia is a work-based learning intern with the Eagle Eye Graphics lab. She helps with graphic design and pre-press, but also works with sublimation and screen printing production. Alicia has already enlisted with the Army National Guard and has been attending monthly trainings since October 2019. She will start basic training in July and begin her job with the Guard in April 2021. There is a possibility that she will serve with the communications/marketing unit with the guard as well! She is pictured with her guard sergeants. Alicia displays many of the soft skills that are needed to be successful in the workplace. Teamwork, leadership and professionalism are just a few that she excels in. Great job Alicia, we are very proud of you!

Tyler Martin

Tyler plans to attend a technical school for a degree in Applied Technology.  His career goal is “to not only have a job but a career in which I’m passionate about and love.” 

“WBL has helped me plan for the future by not only preparing me for what’s ahead but opened my eyes to the opportunity around me.”

“The biggest thing I have learned from my experiences on the job is to treat others as you would want to be treated. And I’m doing that people will remember who you are.” 

“I would recommend WBL to students who want to get ahead, and by get ahead I mean students who want to learn and grow as a student in the workplace. It teaches you the essentials to success.”

Chelsea completed the Marketing Pathway and she is working to earn the  Georgia Best Certificate!

Lanier College and Career Academy selects David Sigaran as the Work-Based Learning Student of the Month for January 2020!

David works hard at Taller Melendez Automotive in Gainesville, Georgia.  Being a career technical pathway completer in Carpentry & HVAC Systems, he is highly technical and an asset to any industry that needs mechanical employees. 

David is a HARD worker and keeps up with his attendance and academics at school. 

David also represents LCCA well in our CTSO & SkillsUSA competitions; consistently earing 1st place in Carpentry!

Noah Young

Kubota

Noah is a Senior WBL student who interns at Kubota Manufacturing.  He has taken classes in the Welding pathway and intends to pursue a career as a mechanic after graduation.

 

Noah works on the sub assembly line and has quickly progressed through learning the procedures for numerous stations.  Noah is a team player with an infectious smile and positive attitude.  His mentors are proud to have him be part of their team and trust him to teach new hires how to correctly assemble parts and components.

Jeslin is a pathway completer in Graphic Arts and is interning in the Spartan Print Shop. She is considering a career in either graphic arts or in education as a graphic arts teacher. 

Jeslin designed a logo that was used by the city of Flowery Branch last Spring for a promotional event. 

Her mentor states, "Jeslin is an amazing, talented, award winning young lady with the best work ethics skills an employer could ask for.  She is very independent and has accomplished so much in her time with us at the Spartan Print Shop.  ."
